25-Year Industry Veteran Brings Dual Landlord/Tenant Perspective to His New Position

NORTH PLAINFIELD, N.J., Sept. 5, 2014 – David Reiner has joined retail real estate services firm Levin Management as vice president of leasing. He brings more than 25 years of industry experience, particularly on the landlord side, to his new position. The North Plainfield-based organization maintains a growing leasing and management portfolio currently including 95 properties with approximately 13 million square feet of GLA.

Reiner’s responsibilities include oversight of Levin’s leasing activity and staff. He has deep experience operating leasing departments, particularly as a landlord, as well as implementing professional development and mentoring initiatives.

“The team at Levin is first class, and I am looking forward to working with and learning from them,” Reiner said. “Levin is known for making deals that are win-win for both landlord and tenant – a philosophy that fits well with my own approach. As a result, our agents have great relationships with both the owners of the properties we represent and within the retailer community.”

Most recently, Reiner served as director of real estate for Body Central Stores, Inc. He also has held executive- and management-level retail leasing positions with household-name property owners such as Urban Retail Properties, Colonial Properties Trust, Simon Property Group and others. “The dual perspective of having worked on both the landlord and tenant sides – with much of his career focused on the ownership side –provides significant value,” according to Levin president Matthew K. Harding.

“David has an insider’s understanding of retailer site-decision processes,” Harding noted. “He has extensive landlord experience, and as a bonus his retail experience has given him the knowledge of the factors that are important to potential tenants, what their criteria are and why, and what information a retailer representative needs in order to get transactions approved and executed. As we continue to grow our portfolio, this expertise will enable us to gain efficiency and be even more proactive when it comes to dealmaking.”

Levin serves properties ranging from neighborhood, community, lifestyle and power centers, to enclosed malls, street retail, downtown stores and mixed-use projects in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Virginia and North Carolina. The firm offers a full range of services including leasing, property management, accounting, construction management and marketing. Levin specializes in repositioning, retenanting and renovating retail properties – areas that have become particularly vital for today’s institutional and individual property owners.

Reiner holds ICSC’s Senior Certified Leasing Specialist designation and maintains real estate broker licenses in Georgia and Florida. He earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Maryland, College Park and has completed coursework through the CCIM Institute.
