The transformation of West Orange Plaza has reached a major milestone with the opening of a new Target store, marking a significant step forward in the property's multi-phase redevelopment.
Located at 235 Prospect Avenue in West Orange, the approximately 298,000-square-foot shopping center has evolved into one of Essex County's premier retail destinations. The arrival of Target introduces one of the nation's most recognized retailers to the center and further strengthens an already impressive tenant lineup anchored by Whole Foods Market.
A New Retail Destination
Target officially opened its doors in March 2026, bringing expanded shopping options, approximately 280 jobs, and a host of convenient services including Drive Up, Order Pickup, Target Optical, CVS Pharmacy, and Starbucks. The store represents a key achievement in the property's ongoing redevelopment and merchandising strategy.

Redevelopment Continues
While the Target opening serves as a major milestone, redevelopment efforts throughout West Orange Plaza remain underway. The multi-million-dollar program includes new outparcel development, additional retail and restaurant opportunities, upgraded facades, enhanced landscaping, improved circulation and parking areas, modern signage, new lighting, and infrastructure to support electric vehicle charging stations.
Several new tenants have already committed to the property's expanding outparcel program, including Club Pilates, VIO Med Spa, Quickway Japanese Hibachi, Namkeen Hot Chicken Joint, honeygrow, and Just Salad, further diversifying the center's retail, dining, wellness, and service offerings.
Positioned for the Future
West Orange Plaza serves a dense and affluent trade area and attracts more than 2.6 million visits annually. Its strategic location just off Interstate 280, combined with continued investment in the property, positions the center for sustained growth and long-term success.
