Expanding Bakery Concept Leases 1,500 SF at Woodbridge Retail Property
Nothing Bundt Cakes, the nation’s largest specialty cake company, will open a new location at St. Georges Crossing in Woodbridge, announced commercial real estate services firm Levin Management Corporation (LMC). The Middlesex County location will expand the popular bakery concept’s growing brick-and-mortar footprint and bring a new retail category to the 343,000-square-foot community shopping center; the lease marks the second LMC transaction with the fast-growing chain.
LMC serves as leasing and managing agent for St. Georges Crossing, which sits at the intersection of heavily traveled Route 1 & 9 and Route 35. The property draws 4.3 million visitors per year, according to real-time traffic data from Placer.ai, positioning it as the number one most visited shopping center in the local market and the seventh most visited in New Jersey – outperforming 97% of shopping centers in the state. LMC Senior Leasing Representative E.J. Moawad arranged the Nothing Bundt Cakes lease on behalf of the landlord; Jamie Sackeim of TSCG (The Shopping Center Group) represented the tenant.
Nothing Bundt Cakes’ Woodbridge location will feature handcrafted bundt cakes in a variety of flavors and sizes, including eight- and 10-inch bundt cakes, personal-sized Bundtlets and cupcake-sized Bundtinis, according to Hansraj Agrawal, a well-established restaurant business operator and owner of the St. Georges Crossing shop. Nothing Bundt Cakes also sells retail items including party supplies, décor and gifts.
“There’s nothing else quite like Nothing Bundt Cakes,” Agrawal noted. “We are very excited to introduce this unique bakery concept to the community and are committed to bringing great cakes – along with an exceptional customer service experience – to our guests.” Agrawal said he was drawn to St. Georges Crossing’s complementary tenant mix, prime location and strong regional demographics.
Founded in 1997, Dallas-based Nothing Bundt Cakes has locations in more than 40 states and Canada. The chain recently opened its 600th bakery with plans to reach 1,000 locations by 2027.
“Bakery chains and other dessert-inspired concepts are increasingly popular with today’s consumers,” noted Moawad. “Within that segment, Nothing Bundt Cakes is a great addition to St. Georges Crossing. This chain brings something completely new and different to the property, and undoubtedly will be a tremendous draw.”
Anchored by a high-volume ShopRite, St. Georges Crossing boasts a complementary tenant mix that includes T.J.Maxx, Pet Smart, West Marine, KPOT Korean BBQ and Hot Pot (coming soon), Ulta Beauty, AutoZone, House of Wine & Liquor, Comcast Xfinity, European Wax Center, Visionworks, Verizon, Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, Taco Bell and Jersey Mike’s, among others.
St. Georges Crossing serves a growing residential population of more than 362,000 residents within a five-mile radius, and a daytime population of 221,000 people within those same five miles.
The Nothing Bundt Cakes lease at St. Georges Crossing underscores LMC’s strong relationships with prominent national brands. LMC secured a lease with another Nothing Bundt Cakes franchisee at Aldrich Plaza in Howell, N.J., in late 2023, with more in the works.
“Both leases are a testament to the strength and appeal of our retail properties and the expertise of our in-house leasing professionals,” said LMC’s Matthew K. Harding, chief executive officer. “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Nothing Bundt Cakes and help bring their delightful offerings to new communities.”
