Restaurant Specializes in Pizza and High-Quality Italian Food
Sugo, a new restaurant specializing in pizza and high-quality Italian food, has opened its doors at Springfield Avenue Marketplace in Newark, announced Levin Management Corporation (LMC). The restaurant occupies 2,100 square feet at the grocery-anchored neighborhood shopping center, for which LMC serves as exclusive leasing and managing agent. The property draws 2.6 million visitors per year, according to real-time traffic data from Placer.ai.
LMC Senior Leasing Representative E.J. Moawad negotiated the lease on behalf of the 108,000-square-foot retail center’s ownership; Tania Pesante of Real Broker LLC represented the tenant. Sugo’s operator is an experienced restauranteur who also owns Assaggini Di Roma, a popular Italian restaurant in Hazlet.
“Shoppers and local residents alike have previously appreciated the presence of a pizzeria at this location,” said Moawad. “Springfield Avenue Marketplace, which is part of a mixed-use community with 152 apartments, has drawn several new dining tenants in the past few years. This has contributed to its appeal for the built-in residential population as well as the surrounding community. Sugo rounds out the property’s restaurant choices nicely.” Other onsite options include Snap Back by Hook & Reel, Taco Bell, McDonald’s and Sarku Japan. Additionally, a new Popeye’s restaurant pad site with drive-through will be developed on the property to accommodate the existing Popeye’s.
Located at 204-234 Springfield Ave., just minutes from Newark’s downtown and Four Corners Historic District, Springfield Avenue Marketplace serves a dense consumer base of about 443,000 people within a three-mile radius. Anchored by a high-volume, 67,000-square-foot ShopRite, its tenant mix also includes Snipes, Ashley Stewart, CityLife Health, Venus Beauty Supply, Angel Nail Spa, T-Mobile and H&R Block.
